Emma Pask

Emma Pask is an Australian jazz vocalist. She is best known for her work with big bands and her continuing collaboration with noted Australian virtuoso James Morrison. She competed on the Second Season of The Voice Australia but was eliminated in the Showdown rounds. In April 2013, Emma auditioned for Season 2 of The Voice (Australia) and was placed on Joel Madden's team as he was the only coach to turn his chair. She was defeated by Lyric McFarland in the Battle Rounds but was given a second chance when Ricky Martin chose to use his only save on her, now making her a member of his team. While she was unsuccessful during the Showdown rounds, Ricky requested that she join him in recording a Brazilian album he is currently working on after her performance of Brazilian hit song 'Mas que Nada'. Yellow Birds and Pink Flowers

This morning's little adventure discovered Garigal literally blooming pink. A freezing cold, but dry morning had me rugged up, but still packing my trusty Nikon V1 and my Panasonic movie camera. At last, this morning, I was able to get a shot of the Gerygone, commonly referred to as the bush canary. I was so busy taking stills of Boronias, that I almost missed him on the track ahead. They're quick and timid. You can probably see that from the shots I took from about 50 metres away. Bush Canaries (Gerygones) are insectivores which obtain most of their food by gleaning and snatching in the foliage of trees and bushes. They are small, and show little variation in size across their range. Their songs are described as descending in pitch, and some species are excellent mimics. The abundance of pink Boronias was a pleasant surprise and by the look of the unopened buds, they'll look great for a few weeks yet. Boronias generally grow in open forests and woodlands. They are only rar

Cootamundra Wattle

My morning walk is usually spent finding a variety of wildflowers and birds. But, this morning I was attracted to this beautiful Cootamundra Wattle, at the peak of it's flowering season, covered in large soft blossoms. Bees were loving it, scurrying in and around the fluffy yellow flowers, attracted mostly to those touched by the sun. Acacia baileyana (Cootamundra Wattle) is arguably the most beautiful and popular of the Acacia genus. It's large gold blossoms are contrasted with grey-green leaves. It is indigenous to a small area of Southern New South Wales, but it is easily grown and widely cultivated throughout Australia. Propagation is accomplished with normal seed raising methods, following pre-treating the seeds by soaking in boiling water, or scarification. Propagation from cuttings is also possible.

Sydney Harbour from Cremorne Point

Cremorne Point Reserve, Sydney Harbour

Within sight of The Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the busy CBD, Kookaburras, Honeyeaters, Magpies, and Rainbow Lorikeets feed from the many flowering shrubs and trees at Cremorne Point Reserve.  Lizards sun themselves on the outcrops of sandstone, and bats feed on the figs and date palms on the shore. Cremorne Reserve vegetation comprises highly ornamental exotic gardens, open lawn areas and indigenous bushland. A stand of northern rainforest tree species exists with Brushbox, Weeping Figs and a Hoop Pine provide shade for tree ferns and small ground ferns.  Walks along the shoreline is popular all year round, the unique Sydney Harbourscape offering a daily menu of fresh air, breathtaking views, and feeling of satisfaction to walkers looking across at the bustling city which is near, but yet, still so far away.  Cremorne Bathing Pool 1929
