Sean and Sonja.

Old friends of Janice Slater , Sean Cullip and Sonja Tallis were only teenagers when they combined in 1964 to form folk duo, Sean and Sonja. In 1965 they were signed to CBS and produced three very successful LP's until Sean was conscripted to serve in Vietnam in 1966. This single was off the third album of the same name from 1966. In 1968, they reunited and played the circuits until 1974. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Sonja Tallis is an Australian actress, singer, and drama teacher. We spent yesterday (Father's Day) sitting by the lake, and towards evening, as the light became softer, the people became quieter, some packing up, thinking perhaps of the working week ahead. The birds ventured out into the lake whose surface had become smoother and took on the soft grey blue of the afternoon sky. That's when I reach for the camera Enjoy.... Narrabeen Lakes is only 28 kms North of Sydney CBD, and a very popular spot all year around for campers and weekend visitors. When Summer gets underway, sailing, boating swimming and fishing are the favourite pastimes here. The adjoining caravan park consists of 26 acres. It's also within easy walking distance to the surfing beach. Flathead, bream and whiting are easily caught during Spring and Summer. Fishermen can wade out through the shallows and cast their lines into the deeper channels, or fish from the shore at high tide. A variety of birds can be seen in and around the lake, including plovers, ducks, gulls, magpi

The Delltones

Image
Australia knew that it loved the Delltones in 1958, when the four young lifesavers, Noel Weiderberg, Brian Perkins, Warren Lucas and Ian 'Peewee' Wilson, appeared gawky, gangly and hopeful at the Bronte Surf Club, then in Australian stadium 'Big Shows' with mentor Johnny O'Keefe, on pioneering radio show Rockville Junction and television shows Six O'Clock Rock and Bandstand, and finally on record with their debut top twenty hit, the Crows' doo wop standard Gee. The Delltones were part of a burgeoning rock 'n' roll environment which largely invented itself; part of a community which drew guitar patterns on Fantales boxes in darkened cinemas, ran sprawling suburban dances with pug nosed boxers as bouncers, blew international touring acts off stage with raw, blustery energy, and gleefully upset the social order of a young and conservative country. "Australia's Little Miss Sweetheart"

Image
Noeleen Batley, was one of the pioneering female stars of Australian Sixties pop. Nicknamed "Australia's Little Miss Sweetheart", her pleasing voice and demure girl-next-door image endeared her to teenagers and parents alike, and she is fondly remembered as a leading member of TV's "Bandstand Family" during the early Sixties. Compared to many other Australian acts, Noeleen enjoyed a very prolific recording career, with around 20 singles, at least eight EPs and three LPs to her credit, most of them recorded during the peak period of her career between 1960 and 1965. SPECIAL EDITION - Country Textures

Corrugated Iron - We Love it! Australians used corrugated iron as the ideal roofing material in the early days, but since then it's become part of our fabric. Looking through a few pics I took in and around Gulgong NSW , it popped up everywhere. (Now, I have this great idea for a coffee table book on the uses of corrugated iron. The cover could be made of......well maybe not) Seen in Milthorpe NSW Seen in Milthorpe NSW Seen in Milthorpe NSW . Some of Australia's country towns are heritage protected, and as a result the paintwork and structures still hold the character of the 1800's. Milthorpe NSW Milthorpe NSW Here are some some wonderful textures I found on the walls, windows and doors of this old building in Mudgee NSW. What amazed me was the lack of graffiti on these pristine, decades old surfaces, which, I think have grown old, very gracefully. _________   Featured Video   _________ _______    An Inspiring Trip To Mudgee     _______ The first thing I noticed, on a recent drive out to Mudgee, was the amazing sepia colours of the landscape after passing through Lithgow. The winter grass was a distinct light straw colour in the foreground, turning to a darker brown in the distance. I promised myself I would get out the watercolours when I got home from this two day trip. Mudgee has continued to evolve into a contemporary town, while still retaining the look of it's past. This is mainly due to an influx of young families over the past ten or so years, and it's reputation as a successful wine region. I'm looking forward to an interesting and inspiring couple of days here.
