When Pally met Elvis

October 1968, Ward and Irene Austin honeymooned in the  USA He was a dedicated music fan and a fanatic for all things American, Elvis Presley in particular, and The South in general.  He had a number of famous catchphrases which became part of the vernacular at the time, including "a rickapoodie and a fandooglie", "Too much for the human unit" and "Anytime you're ready Pally" . Ward married Irene Combe in 1968, when she was 17. He had met her Irene she was 14 and proclaimed his love for her, though at the time he was 31.  On their honeymoon in the USA they were excited to meet Ward's idol, Elvis Presley.  I stumbled across this 2UE Top 40 chart from 1962, and therewas was WARD "Pally" AUSTIN grinning fresh faced as a schoolboy at the bottom of the page.  the caption starts "2UE music man WARD AUSTIN spins all the latest discs. Pat Carroll - The Musical Apple didn't fall far from the tree.

I see that the beautiful and talented Pat Carroll, who sang with Olivier Newton John during their early careers, gave her musical genes to her kids. She married John Farrar, himself a talented musician and songwriter, and had two sons, Sam and Max, who both made great music. This is old news, but if you're like me, and wonder what happened to all those years, you might be interested in what I discovered.... A lot of Australian Music Legends' followers have been genuinely concerned about Robin Gibb's health. While I've been looking around for any news of Robin, I was impressed by his acheivements. According to Wikipedia , Robin Gibb, alongside his successful music career, has won the following awards; In 1994, Robin Gibb was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and in 1997 the Bee Gees were inducted as a group into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Robin was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2001/2002 New Year's Honours List, along with his brothers Maurice and Barry. The official presentation ceremony at Buckingham Palace was delayed until 2004 owing to Maurice's death. In 2005, Gibb received the Steiger Award (Germany) for accomplishments in the arts.
