Digger Revell

Image
Sydney band The Denvermen was one of the premier Australian surf-instrumental groups of the early 1960s and although they have been somewhat overshadowed by their better-known contemporaries The Atlantics, they certainly deserve more recognition.  The original lineup was formed in late 1961, by members of two earlier Sydney groups, Digger Revell and the Lonely Ones and Paul Dever and the Denvermen.  Denvermen guitarist Les Green brought the Denvermen name with him when that group split and he joined Digger Revell.  The group began by organising its own dances but gained national prominence thanks to appearances on the ABC's pioneering rock'n'roll TV show Six O'Clock Rock hosted by Johnny O'Keefe. In 2012, Digger appeared in Windsor with Luck Starr and Johnny Devlin... "Three living legends, in concert: Digger Revell, Lucky Starr and Johnny Devlin... our originals who pioneered our music history! Who can ever forget

And there is ocean.

Donna Greene. Music is Life and Life is Music.

Image
"Music is life and life is music. It's the fabric of our relationship, the air we breathe." Donna Greene  (AKA Donna G), made her reputation as a great singer and brilliant front lady with Lady Zeppelin , Western Australia's own unique salute to the heavyweight champions of rock'n'roll, Led Zeppelin. After the late 2012 release of the Resonance Project digital EP, Rise And Fall, Graham Greene, and Donna G  released the 2014 EP Tale Goes On .   You can sample songs from this EP Sample Donna G's new EP on iTunes   Mesmerizing. Captivating. Dynamic. Exceptional.  Classic Rock and Zeppelin nostalgia at its finest.   These quotes were noted on Lady Zeppelins Website: When Donna Greene steps up to the microphone and starts belting out some of the greatest songs ever written, magic happens – Lady Zeppelin are simply the most authentic tribute band I’ve ever heard – and we’re talking serious spine-tingling stuff..." - Shane Pinnegar

The Leaf Tailed Gecko.

Image
Another snap of the Leaf Tailed Gecko. This little fellow, (Phyllurus platurus) is only found in the Sydney sandstone areas, and is pretty hard to find there, as you can see from this photo.  It has excellent camouflage, and changes the shade of its skin to match as closely as possible, the immediate surroundings. He is nocturnal, feeds on small insects, such as grubs, moths spiders, crickets etc This is the first described Leaf Tailed Gecko having occupied the homes of Sydneysiders since European settlement.

Johnny Chester. Alone.

Image
ALONE is such a lonely word As sad as any word I have ever heard ALONE in some ways it's a state of mind But you'd think that was too unkind If you were ALONE ALONE can be standing inside a crowd People talking right out loud Still you haven't any doubt You are ALONE Doesn't have to mean solitude It's a soul destroying empty mood When you feel you're ALONE And so the lyric goes for what is Johnny Chester's umpteenth recording and the song chosen to kick off his Fifty Fourth year as a recording artist. To try and reduce his career to a few lines is impossible and so this is an invitation to listen closely to a man who has lived the words of his songs and brought them to life in his own uniquely believable style. "Loneliness the debilitating feeling that often cannot be expressed and is often misunderstood". "Loneliness is that feeling of hopelessness and of feeling ALONE". The song is quite a departure

Rose Carleo. Time Is Now.

As a young performer Rose Carleo sang backing vocals for Jimmy Barnes during the release of his “Soul Deep” album in 2000 and her trio, Sweet Revenge, supported Vanessa Amorosi’s Perth performance during her 2000 Western Australian tour.  The brand new single "Time Is Now" is out now. It marks a slight departure from Rose's previous recorded efforts, which could be best described as blues-laced contemporary country music. Time Is Now was written by Rose, long-time song writing partner Drew McAlister and real life partner Mick Adkins and produced by Multi ARIA award winning Mark Opitz, Colin Wynne, Rose and Mick. Billy Thorpe. It all started with a French Love Song.

Image
Billy Thorpe was born in Manchester, England, in 1946. He  immigrated to Australia with his family when he was nine, and settled in Brisbane, Queensland. By the time he was ten years old, Thorpie was performing on Brisbane television (billed as Little Rock Allen). He toured country areas with singer Reg Lindsay. By the time he was 15, Thorpie had worked in stage shows, variety television, clubs and even vaudeville at Brisbane's Theatre Royal with George Wallace. He also toured with the likes of Johnny O'Keefe and Col Joye.  In late 1963, as a seasoned 17-year-old, Thorpie moved to Sydney and joined his first band The Aztecs. The original Aztecs line-up comprised Vince Maloney (lead guitar; ex-Vibratones), Val Jones (rhythm guitar), John 'Bluey' Watson (bass; ex-Vibratones) and Col Baigent (drums). Just prior to Thorpie's arrival, The Aztecs had issued a surf instrumental single, 'Smoke and Stack'/'Board Boogie', on the Linda Lee label (Jan
