The Leaf Tailed Gecko.

Image
Another snap of the Leaf Tailed Gecko. This little fellow, (Phyllurus platurus) is only found in the Sydney sandstone areas, and is pretty hard to find there, as you can see from this photo.  It has excellent camouflage, and changes the shade of its skin to match as closely as possible, the immediate surroundings. He is nocturnal, feeds on small insects, such as grubs, moths spiders, crickets etc This is the first described Leaf Tailed Gecko having occupied the homes of Sydneysiders since European settlement.
