Two “New Age” Schoolboys Launch Their Own Radio Show.

Community radio is once again, proving its’ worth to the local area.

Radio Northern Beaches RNB 88.7 FM  has
provided an opportunity to two boys from French‘s Forest to begin their careers.

An inspiration for job seeking school leavers, local teenagers, Will Dubé, and Riley Eavis, have brought their love of music to the airwaves with a regular Friday night gig on New Age Radio Northern Beaches RNB 88.7 FM .

Both boys attend French’s Forest High School and what began as work experience during their spare time, soon became a valuable voluntary role in the management and promotion of the radio station.

Live “Freestyle” interviews and lots of hip hop have
become the regular format for their hour long 7.30pm show. “New Age with Will and Riley”

Recently, fans enjoyed a live interview with Pork MC,
Pork MC

the fast rising rap artist. This was a coup for Will and Riley, and a hit with their audience base.

Will: “I’m up for trying all kinds of work experience, but I found something I really love here at the station. Next year I’m going to start a tertiary course in audio engineering at JMC Academy, Sydney.  I wouldn’t have thought about probably, unless I did this job at the
station first”.

Riley:  “As soon as Will told me about the radio station and we recorded the first episode of our show I was hooked. So far it’s been such a great experience which has been educating and fun and it’s opened a new door to media for me that I never would of thought about opening in the first place”

Community Radio has a long history of training up Australia’s next generation of media makers, and working with a range of diverse people beyond audio engineering students and aspiring radio personalities.

An example of this is the The Radio skills Workshop, which Will and Riley attended. It is a fun and engaging introduction to a wide range of radio broadcasting skills, presented by Radio Northern Beaches. The radio course is aimed at people who are interested in potentially presenting their own weekly show at Radio Northern Beaches, people interested in broadcast media as a career, or anyone looking for a fun and challenging weekend experience!

Radio Northern Beaches is run by  the Manly-Warringah Media Co-operative. All of the members of Radio Northern Beaches are volunteers.
