The Queen of Loops, Mihirangi creates her own band sound
Mihirangi performs "Make That Soul" She has gained acclaim internationally for her unique one woman shows. In a recent interview, Mihirani talks about her layered recording technique which has earned her the title “The Queen of Loops”. Her style is brilliantly demonstrated with her song “Make That Soul” where she illustrates girl power. Performing live she builds the music in front of her audience, layering melody harmony and percussion. “I really wanted to sing in language” Mihirangi says about her two year Maori language studies in Melbourne. “ The meaning of the songs takes on a completely different emotion and perspective” she explains. This talented solo artist reveals her passion for her Maori culture, her love of her people and her opinions about the clash of tradition and modern living.
