Wonderful for a gull

How can a morning that looks this good, be anything but wonderful, for a gull?

And There Is Ocean

I'm staring so hard  at the seascape and the sky  it's now in my head  I close my eyes tight  and peer into the blackness  and there is ocean

A Baza in The Garden Of Oz

Image
There is a huge variety of bird life to be seen around Sydney, and much of it is familiar to amateur bird watchers like me. However, as I walked toward the 17th tee at Roseville Golf Course the other day, I was distracted (this happens every few minutes), by the movements of a large bird in the tall red gum in front of me. As the others teed off, I wandered a bit closer and craned my neck to look up to identify this bird, but couldn't. It was strange to me. No-one in my group knew what it was. Later that day, one of the group rang. "Have a listen to this" he said. Here's the link to the bird's call. "It's a Baza!" he said. I had no idea what he was talking about, so I searched for information and here's what I found... There's lot of info about the Baza here.. http://www.wiresnr.org/Pacificbaza.html Oh well back to the course for more bird watching.

The Queen of Loops, Mihirangi creates her own band sound

Image
Mihirangi performs "Make That Soul" She has gained acclaim internationally for her  unique one woman shows.  In a recent interview, Mihirani talks about her layered recording technique which has earned her the title “The Queen of Loops”. Her style is brilliantly demonstrated with her song “Make That Soul”  where she illustrates girl power. Performing live she builds the music in front of her audience, layering melody harmony and percussion.  “I really wanted to sing in language” Mihirangi says about her two year Maori language studies in Melbourne. “ The meaning of the songs takes on a completely different emotion and perspective” she explains.  This talented solo artist reveals her passion for her Maori culture, her love of her people and her opinions about the clash of tradition and modern living. She is working to resurrect the language. “The loss of language is purely reflective of the loss of culture” she says.  The Queen of Loops, Mihirangi creates her own band sound. M

Mixed Media Collage

Image
I have now completed three new mixed media collage designs and added them to the Gallery. A collection of mixed media collages on paper and paintings on canvas. My art sometimes evolves into a combination of photography, digital art and paint. My life as a graphic artist, certainly contributes to the way I create these works, and my lifelong interest in nature, supplies me with the inspiration. I hope others enjoy these works as much as I do. RIFLE BIRD Mixed Media Collage on paper 18cms X 18cms IBIS WITH SHELL Mixed Media Collage on paper LAGOON Mixed Media Collage on paper 18cms X 18cms
